The 95 Theses was posted on Halloween by Martin Luther. Martin Luther believes: 1. people win salvation by faith in God's gift of forgiveness. 2. all church teachings should be clearly based on words of the Bible. 3. all people with faith are equal. people do not need to interpret the Bible for them. When Luther's ideas become popular, Pope Leo X issues a decree threatening Luther with excommunication unless he take's back his statements. Luther throws the decree into a bonfire infant of all his students. So, Pope Leo X excommunicates Luther. Charles V- holy devout Christian leader who wants Luther to recant. Luther refuses, so Charles orders Luther to be put "on trial" at the Diet of Worms. Diet (assembly) Worms (City in Germany). Luther says "my conscience is captive to the World."
